"The Tories are suffering because they don't have enough solid policies, argues Simon Heffer."

The Daily Torygraph carries today a trenchant diatribe against the Tories by the inimitable Simon Heffer.

It is headed:

"The Tories are suffering because they don't have enough solid policies, argues Simon Heffer."

The DT permits and encourages on-line comments. I have just submitted the following:

"Their only 'solid' policies are to retain the hereditary peers, to bring back fox hunting and hare coursing, and to 'bribe' couples with £150 per year to get married and mend our 'broken society.' My wife and I had our 48th wedding anniversary yesterday and I can assure 'Dave' and Bullingdon Boy George that £150 per year would not have persuaded us to marry nor to stay married for 48 years. Young people will not be persuaded either. Marriage is an institution and I'd rather stay in this institution than take the Tories' £150 per year. It's an insult to us and to our intelligence."
