"Happy days are here again,
The skies above are clear again,
So let's sing a song of cheer again,
Happy days are here again!"
The late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's campaign song from the American General Election of 1932 seems appropriate here today.
Our General Election seems now to be wide open, both nationally and locally and, having just come in from delivering the monthly magazine, The Bulbeck Beacon, to the outlying areas of the Parish of Swaffham Bulbeck, I see that the skies are clear again, so let's sing a song of cheer again.
I have seen some splendid sights on my rounds, from fine horses (see above) on a stud near Newmarket, but within the bounds of Swaffham Bulbeck, to our own lovely snowdrops (see below) which are at last making a good show this year.
Of course, there are drawbacks to the clear and better weather of Spring. Swarms of insects appear in our Fens as if from nowhere (the mosquitoes have not hit us yet: they come later). I blame the National Trust - again!
